Cornerstones Opens Nominations for Historic Preservation Awards

Nominations Open to the Public

Cornerstones is issuing an open call for nominations for the Cornerstones historic preservation awards to be awarded on May 13, 2010. The Sophia Long Award for Distinguished Service in the Promotion of Historic Preservation highlights an individual who has shown exemplary service towards promoting historic preservation efforts. The 2008 award recipient – Thomas Johnson. A graduate of Auburn University, Thomas has worked as an architect in Chattanooga since 1980. He integrates green design with historic renovation and has managed numerous such projects throughout Downtown Chattanooga (www.ThomasJohnsonArchitecture.com)

The Cornerstones Award for Excellence in a Preservation Project recognizes outstanding achievements in restoring or preserving a building in a way that maintains the aesthetic of the original construction.
